In brief

What works, what to weigh

+

Strengths

5 reasons to book
  • Unbeatable central location — Step out onto Calle Campomanes and you're within a short walk of the Royal Palace, Teatro Real, Gran Vía, and Plaza Mayor. Guests consistently rate the setting 9/10.
  • Clean, well-equipped rooms — Rooms feature parquet floors, soundproofing, tea and coffee facilities, and comfortable beds. Many have small balconies or separate sitting areas.
  • Helpful, friendly staff — Guests repeatedly praise the reception team for being kind, knowledgeable, and efficient – from check-in to arranging taxis.
  • Good breakfast and dining — The breakfast is described as hearty with hot options, and the on-site restaurant and snack bar cover other meals.
  • Good value for money — With a price-to-service score of 8/10, guests feel they get solid quality for the price, especially given the location.

Worth weighing

5 to weigh
  • Rooms can be compact — Several guests note that rooms are on the small side, which can feel tight for those expecting more space.
  • Some noise from corridors — Despite soundproofing, guests occasionally hear voices from the corridor, especially late at night.
  • No on-site parking — The hotel does not list parking facilities, so guests arriving by car will need to find public parking nearby.
  • No pets allowed — The hotel has a strict no-pets policy, which limits options for travellers with animals.
  • Limited breakfast for some — While most guests enjoy breakfast, one guest found the spread modest, describing it as not a 'horn of plenty'.

“The hotel is wonderful. The location is perfect – five minutes to the Gran Vía, three minutes to the Royal Palace, about fifteen minutes to Plaza Cibeles and the Prado, ten minutes to Plaza Mayor. The area is so walkable that you won't need a taxi. The room was clean and well laid out, with a small living area with a sofa and TV, and a separate bedroom. The small balconies are charming, and once the shutters are closed you can't hear any street noise. We had plenty of space – about 21 square metres – and everything was spotless. The room had bathrobes, slippers, a kettle and tea, plus even a sewing kit in the safe. Breakfast was good, not over the top but plenty – scrambled eggs, fruit, yogurt, fresh juice, cheese and ham. Across the street is a big supermarket with fresh bread and everything you need. The reception staff were friendly. We'd definitely stay again. By the way, the hotel can arrange a fixed-price taxi to the airport for 30 euros – an Uber cost us 60 to 70.”

“The best thing here is the value for money. Location depends on your travel plans, but for us the proximity to the Teatro Real was the reason we booked. The room was quiet, interior-facing at the end of the corridor, but at night we could still hear people laughing in the corridor – there are always inconsiderate guests. Good lighting in the room, and the bed and pillows were comfortable.”

“The service was, on the whole, fantastic.”

“Excellent location. There's a shop across the street and taxis are easy to find.”

“Great location, lovely place, and the staff were very helpful.”

“The hot breakfast was good with a wide range of food and drinks. The bed in the guest room was comfortable and the room featured a mini-bar, central heating and an iron.”
